In this second data altered art project, I used NADAQ data to alter the features (eyes, eybrows, mouth) of the face.

Geithner (based on official photo) altered for 12 volatile days of the year:
  

FOr this alteration… I created a Volatility Index  ( high/low price) for the given day across all years since 1971. My Index values were applied to graphic transformation functions for each component of the face (eye brows, eyes, nose and mouth).

My first attempt at Data Altering Art used an image of my Voila painting.. and a database with birthday offset numbers.

(What are birthday offset numbers?… you might be wondering. They’re actually a number associated with each day of the year.. i made them up..but they are based on the sum of the digits in the birthday and a few other concocted numerical ideas of mine. Basically each day of the year has a number associated with it).

Based on that “birthday offset number” the face features (eyes, nose, mouth) are altered… either stretched or squished.

“Transformation the Face and the Mask” has been my focus for the past few years. Using metal, paint, canvas, water color…variety of media.. to render the theme. Moving into video and programming to expand (or maybe even change) the theme.
